Meet The Editors

The Sixth Form Editorial Team

Welcome to our Journal!

The Sixth Form Editorial Team invites you to get involved. We meet every Tuesday lunch time in room 5 to review submissions, work on plans for the Journal and commission new articles.

Miss Richer

I’m Miss Richer and I teach English and lead on academic enrichment at Cherwell – any activity that takes you beyond what you learn in the classroom. My favourite thing about the Journal is learning weird and wonderful things about a whole range of different topics and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Aman Kumar

My name is Aman and I am in year 12 currently studying chemistry, biology, physics and maths. I am hoping to go on to do medicine at university. However, along with medicine, I have a major interest in politics and I am very happy to discuss ideas with people about the modern world. Of course, I am also happy to read and help people with articles relating to these topics.

Freya Macleod

I’m Freya, a year 13 student studying English, History and French. I am applying to study Politics and Sociology at university.  As a follower of the news, I would love to read any articles about current affairs in general. Issues I’m currently particularly interested in include climate change, the dynamics of protests and the rise of the far right in Europe, but I’m happy to help with whatever topic interests you. Send me an email if you need inspiration or want your article read!

Mae Cook

I’m particularly interested in literature, language and theatre, so I’d love to read articles about those topics but also any other articles you write as I enjoy learning about new things. Don’t hesitate to send me an email if you have any questions or need any help with ideas for the journal!

Rayan Sayyaj

Ella Myers

My name is Ella, and I am currently in Year 13 studying Biology, Chemistry and English Literature hoping to study History of Art at University. I am fascinated by art and the context revolving around any and all masterpieces. However, I am also happy to read articles regarding science, literature and philosophy – whatever you find interesting! If you would like some starting points or a general discussion for your article, feel free to send me a message.

Isabel Elsner

Hello! I’m Izzy, a Year 12 student studying English, German and RPE at A Level. I will be specialising in Philosophy and Ethics for the Cherwell Journal, but I am hoping to study English Literature at University and love to read widely (especially classical English and Russian fiction). I love listening to hip hop and I’m doing my EPQ on the literary analysis of rap lyrics – if you can write about Shakespeare, you can write about Eminem! Get in touch if you have already written anything that needs a proof-read (even if it’s just a SPAG-check), especially on philosophical/ethical theories and their application!

Molly Chalk

My name is Molly and I’m interested in reading articles on language and literature.

Rowan Hector-Turnbull

My name is Rowan and I am going to be overseeing some of the science-based submissions to the Cherwell Journal. I am currently in year 12 studying biology, chemistry, maths and geography. I would like to pursue a career in chemistry or biochemistry when I am older. I am passionate about all areas of science and I am looking forward to helping anyone who would like to write an article or reviewing anything you have already written and offering my advice.
